Note: This volunteer opportunity has more slots available than we need in case of last-minute dropouts. Those not contacted are reserved as backup volunteers.
Help us collect supplies for our care packs by gathering surplus food from our partners.
Every Thursday we assemble more than 100 care packages at our warehouse to support vulnerable people in isolation all across London. Each care pack has enough food and supplies to last someone for a week; the packs also include something to lift the spirit, like tea and biscuits, a handwritten note, and more.
You will be collecting surplus food from Gail’s Bakery Camden branch, about a 10-minute drive from our warehouse. Bread is one of the most requested items from our recipients – we will also allow you to take some items home for your pantry!
Please note: You will need a bike or car to do this opportunity.

The major points are 1) Be friendly to the staff and ask them what you can collect 2) Bring bin-liners and boxes to carry the surplus food.
Before signing up, please read through our health and safety protocol which are strictly enforced at the warehouse:
As a reminder, please DO NOT sign up if you or someone you’ve come in contact with has had COVID-19 symptoms in the past 14 days.
From our recipients:
“… I have received my package thank so much you have really made life so happy in this time of lockdown…”
“… Thank you for the package which is especially welcome as I am back in bed with post-corona breathlessness. [Name of another recipient] finds it hard to shop on her own so this could not be more timely…”
From our volunteers:
“… Check them out as they need donations and volunteers to do packaging for people in isolation. They have a place that’s sanitised according to their medical professional’s standards to do all their packaging.”
“Fantastic work – please keep it up!”
